Unmuted: Voices of Strength in Tech explores the often-unspoken realities of domestic violence and PTSD within the community of women in tech. This conversation aims to normalize open dialogue around trauma, recognize signs of distress in ourselves and others, and share pathways to healing and support. Together, we’ll learn how to reclaim our stories, transform survival into strength, and use our voices to empower others across the tech landscape.

Attendees will gain:

  • A deeper understanding of how domestic violence and PTSD can manifest — both personally and within the workplace.
  • Practical tools to recognize signs of trauma in themselves and others, and how to respond with empathy and support.
  • Awareness of available resources and steps for seeking help safely and confidentially.
  • Inspiration and guidance for reclaiming personal narratives to foster healing and resilience.
  • A renewed sense of community and empowerment to advocate for safer, more compassionate spaces in tech.
Meet Elizabeth "Liz" Wheeles

Liz Wheeles is a Staff Technical Program Manager at LinkedIn, where she brings more than two decades of experience in strategy, product, technical program management, and people leadership. Known for her ability to untangle complex challenges, she excels at aligning teams, clarifying direction, and driving impactful results across sales, marketing, HR, finance, support, and engineering.

Beyond her core role, Liz is a proud leader within LinkedIn’s Productivity Engineering Women in Tech Council. She is committed to building partnerships that foster inclusion, growth, and community—helping women in tech feel seen, supported, and empowered at every stage of their careers.
Liz’s passion for advocacy is deeply personal. As a survivor of domestic violence, she has spent the past eight years working alongside women, men, and children who are navigating similar journeys. She partners with attorneys, detectives, and victim advocates to improve how the legal and support systems communicate with and care for survivors. Her mission is to help people reclaim their voice, understand their strength, and move from being labeled “victims” to recognizing themselves as survivors and drivers of their own futures.

A strong advocate for PTSD awareness, Liz believes that understanding trauma—its signs, its impact, and its prevalence—is essential to building more compassionate communities and workplaces. With nearly half of adults experiencing at least one traumatic event in their lifetime, and women significantly more likely to develop PTSD, she champions education, early recognition, and allyship as powerful tools for healing and support.
Liz is also actively involved in community and global impact initiatives, supporting organizations such as Social Venture Partners International, Power Over Predators, and SVP India. She serves as a mentor with American Corporate Partners (ACP), helping veterans and their families transition to civilian life and careers.

At the heart of all her work—whether in technology, advocacy, or community service—is a belief that real change happens when people, processes, and purpose align. Liz is dedicated to creating spaces where survivors are supported, allies are informed, and every person feels empowered to rise.
