The use of humor can be an effective tactic to gain points in both the substance of a negotiation and in the relationships involved. Humor does more than just make people laugh. It allows you to connect with your audience, diffuse tension, elevate status, foster trust, and compel others to your point of view. Humor can also help you and your message stand out, yet most of us hesitate to use humor, especially in our professional lives. Using it tactically requires some background information and serious listening skills so in the second workshop in WIT’s Humor Series, Nancy brings interesting case studies and practical tips to leverage your negotiation by harnessing humor.
