What would you do if you were flying along in outer space and the system that propels your entire star ship suddenly goes kaput? Would you know how to approach finding the cause of the failure? That's where debugging comes in. Debugging is a skill that cannot be attained solely in a classroom setting. It requires experience, along with a fair amount of trial-and-error. A curious mind, and the ability to decompose software failures in order to understand system interactions are key components of debugging. Join the Red Hat WIT WISE team as we guide you through troubleshooting the warp core and getting your star ship back to exploring the universe.

About Susan: Susan LeGendre-McGhee is a Senior Software Engineer at Red Hat, with 15 years of experience in software development. With a background in Biomedical Engineering, Susan started her career in research applications, such as natural language processing and image analysis. From there, she moved into the medical device industry, spending the majority of her career working on embedded software and device drivers. At Red Hat, Susan works on the Virtual Data Optimizer (VDO) storage solution that is available in Red Hat Enterprise Linux and the upstream 6.9+ Linux kernel, along with serving as the package maintainer for her team. Regardless of the particular product or application, Susan has become well-versed in troubleshooting and debugging. For those familiar with Star Trek, she'd be a redshirt. Outside of her technical pursuits, Susan has an unwavering commitment to sharing knowledge and mentoring others. She also serves as one of the Global Co-Chairs for the Red Hat Mental Health and Neurodiversity DEI community. In her free time, Susan enjoys building Lego with her kids, doing crafts and jigsaw puzzles, traveling or camping with her family, and baking. She also loves Star Trek and science fiction. In fact, her honeymoon was to a Star Trek convention!
About Hilliary: Hilliary is an autodidact and start-up veteran who has frequently learned and applied technologies to get a job done. She’s had her hand in every part of the application delivery process, honing in her skills originally as a Quality Engineer. Hilliary is an IT polyglot able to talk the lingo of both the Operations and Development teams.
