Event Description

The WIT Network is pleased to partner with Red Hat to bring you our WIT Women in Software Engineering (WISE) programming.

If you've ever wondered how to get involved in OpenSource and don't know where to start, then this webinar is for you. The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) – the non-profit organization that owns notable projects like Kubernetes – helps over 150 people a year participate in various mentorship programs, including: LFX, Google Season of Code, and Outreachy.

Join Nate Waddington as he reviews OpenSource programs at CNCF, how to participate, and how to choose which program is best for you.

About Nate: Nate is a developer advocate who focuses on technical documentation and mentoring. He leads the TechDocs team, managing a group of contractors, including writers, designers, and web developers. Together, they deliver high-quality documentation that supports the cloud-native ecosystem. Nate and the TechDocs team help CNCF projects organize and write documentation, ensuring clarity, consistency, and accessibility.

In addition to his technical writing duties, Nate runs the CNCF mentorship program. Working with the TAG Contributor Strategy Mentorship Working Group, he helps CNCF projects prepare for mentorship programs such as LFX, Google Summer of Code, and Outreachy. He also administers CNCF’s participation in the LFX Mentorship program, working with the Linux Foundation to foster the growth and development of new contributors.
